What a hauling service actually does
A hauling service in Chattanooga brings the truck and the crew to move what you cannot lift alone. The crew does the carrying, and the load goes somewhere it is allowed to go.
Haul Away Guy started in 2020 with one truck, and hauling is still the core of
it. You point at the pile; the crew loads it. There is no minimum of one particular
item type and no requirement that it be sorted, bagged or moved to the curb first.
Most of what we pick up is exactly where it has been sitting for months.
You get a clear, upfront quote before any work begins, with no hidden fees. If
it does not suit you, the crew leaves and nothing is owed.
What we haul away
- Household loads: furniture, mattresses, boxes, the contents
of a spare room, everything in the garage that has not moved since you bought the
house.
- Appliances: refrigerators, washers and dryers, ranges, water
heaters. Heavy, awkward, and the most common single-item haul we run.
- Yard and storm debris: branches, brush, old fencing, deck
boards, the pile left behind after a weekend of work.
- Renovation leftovers: cabinets, trim, flooring, drywall
offcuts and general construction debris from a small remodel.
Clearing a single category rather than a truckload? Appliance
removal and furniture removal are
the same crew and the same pricing, just scoped smaller. Clearing an entire
property is an estate cleanout, and it is
our specialty.
Usable items are donated and materials are recycled where we can, which is why we
ask what is in the load before quoting it. That changes where the truck goes
afterwards, not what you pay.

How a haul works
- Call and describe the load. Rough size, rough contents,
where it is sitting. Upstairs, behind a gate, down a slope: say so. It
changes the crew, not the honesty of the quote.
- You approve the price first. Clear, upfront, no hidden
fees. Nothing is lifted until you have agreed to it.
- The crew loads it. You do not need to move anything to the
curb, sort it, or be strong enough to help. That is the service.
- The load gets sorted. Donations go to donation, recycling
goes to recycling, and the rest is disposed of properly.
Pricing detail lives on the cost
page. If you would rather load it yourself over a weekend, a
dumpster rental is usually the cheaper
route, and this comparison
lays out which one wins for your situation.
Most hauls are done inside an hour. The long ones are the ones with stairs, a
narrow gate, or a load that turns out to be twice what was described on the phone.
That is why the crew looks at it before the number is fixed rather than
after.

Hauling questions people actually ask
What is the difference between hauling and junk removal?
In practice they are the same crew and the same truck. People say “hauling” when there is one heavy thing to move and “junk removal” when there is a lot of it. Either way you describe the load, approve a price, and we carry it out.
Do you need me to move everything to the curb first?
No. Curbside is fine if that is where it already is, but the crew will go into the garage, the basement or the back yard and carry it from where it sits. That is the part you are paying for.
Can you come the same day?
Often, yes. We run same-day and next-day hauling. Same-day depends on what is already booked, so the earlier you call the better the odds.
How is the price worked out?
By how much room the load takes in the truck and what is in it. You get a clear, upfront quote before any work starts. No hidden fees.
What happens to the stuff after you take it?
Usable items are donated and materials are recycled where we can. The rest goes to proper disposal. It does not change your price, but it is why we ask what is in the load.
Is there a minimum load size?
No. A single appliance or one piece of furniture is a normal call. Small loads cost less than full ones because pricing follows how much room the load takes in the truck.
Do you charge extra for stairs or a long carry?
The crew looks at the access before the price is fixed, so stairs, a narrow gate or a long carry are priced in at the start rather than added afterwards. There are no hidden fees.
Can you haul from a rental or a property I do not live at?
Yes. Plenty of hauls are rentals between tenants, a relative's house, or a property being prepared for sale. Someone needs to authorise the work and the price, but they do not have to be standing there.
What items will you not take in the truck?
Hazardous material is the main one: paint, solvents, chemicals, fuel, asbestos.
This page lists what has to go elsewhere and where to take it.
Do you run hauling jobs on weekends?
Weekend hauls are common, especially for garage and yard clearouts when someone is home to point at the pile. Call and ask what is open.
How much notice do you need?
Same-day works when there is a slot; otherwise next-day is usually available. For a big load it helps to call a day ahead so the right size truck and crew are assigned.
Do you haul construction debris?
Yes, for the kind of leftovers a small remodel produces: cabinets, trim, flooring, drywall offcuts. For a running renovation a
dumpster on site is usually cheaper than repeat hauls.
